Market Update: An Industrial Spring Maker That’s Here for You

Since the start of the pandemic more than 18 months ago, we have proudly maintained uninterrupted industrial spring manufacturing services. However, the entire manufacturing industry continues to face incredible challenges.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that this is the most challenging environment we’ve experienced in our nearly 60 years of spring manufacturing and as a steel spring supplier.

Some of the challenges we’re facing include:

  • Pandemic-fueled supply chain shortages

  • Extreme weather-related supply chain bottlenecks

  • Sudden increase in demand

  • Rod mill consolidation

  • Rod mill shutdowns

  • Rod mills running at diminished capacities

  • Labor shortages

  • Truck driver shortages

  • Packaging shortages

Raw material prices have increased by 101% since 2016. And they’re up 74% from 2020. These price increases are stunning, but supply is an even greater concern.

The supply of goods required for manufacturing are in critically short supply.  The question for many manufacturers is not how much the materials cost, but can the required materials be purchased at all.

Exceeding Customer Expectations

Throughout the shortfalls and supply crises of our industry, Tennessee Spring has successfully served our industrial spring customers without interruption. We haven’t missed a single day of production and we’ve experienced no service interruptions.

How We Deliver Your Spring Supply

We’ve reliably made good on our promises and we have exceeded our customers’ expectations during the pandemic, while adhering to ISO 9001 and AS 9100 guidelines for high-quality, American-made springs.

  • We have been actively securing wire and other raw materials well in advance of our blanket order customers, keeping them in production at any cost.

  • We have avoided several price increases by purchasing wire in advance, due in part to our customers’ cooperation in sending us their forecasts and orders well in advance.

  • We have been flooded with spring inquiries over the past year, but we turn down any new business that would jeopardize our existing customers’ spring supply.

  • We have worked weekends and overtime to compensate for delayed shipments of raw material
